Job Description

The Mathis/Benoist laboratory at Harvard Medical School seeks a highly motivated individual to support research in neuroimmunology. This individual will independently perform and /or coordinate a wide range of highly sophisticated laboratory techniques, working closely with fellows and students to analyze regulators T cells in the brain of mice and humans. This includes immunologic techniques (such as T cell purification from mice, assays of T cell function, multiparameter flow cytometry), molecular biology procedures (such as PCR, and RNA and/or DNA preparation from tissues various forms of RNA), and basic microscopy (such as cutting sections, staining slides, and imaging slides with a microscope). Animal work is required (ex vivo analyses), mouse husbandry (setting up breeders, genotyping progeny). S/he will analyze and summarize data, organize in lab notebooks, and report experimental results weekly. This individual may independently troubleshoot and optimize techniques, in addition to reading relevant literature and providing training for other lab members.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • College background in the immunology or related discipline and 1-2+ years of experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree focused on Immunology preferred. 
  • At least one year wet-lab experience, including skills in flow cytometry, cell culture, mouse breeding desirable. 
  • Computational training in RNA-seq analyses. 
  • Ability to work independently and within a group. 
  • Time flexibility.

Additional Information

  • Appointment End Date: This is a term position from the date of hire with an end date of June 14, 2027, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.  
  • Standard Hours/Schedule: 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
